Rice Crispies Treats

Marshmallow Crispie Treats (GF) made with margarine and Fruity Pebbles. From Kellog's website

Kellogg'sŪ Rice Krispies TreatsŪ Original

  1. 3 tablespoons margarine or butter
  2. 1 package (10 oz. about 40) regular marshmallows or 4 cups miniature marshmallows
  3. 6 cups KELLOGG'SŪ RICE KRISPIESŪ cereal

  1. Melt margarine in large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.

  2. Add KELLOGG'S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated.

  3. Using buttered spatula or waxed paper, press mixture evenly into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cut into 2-inch squares when cool. Best if served the same day.

MICROWAVE DIRECTIONS:
In a microwave safe bowl, heat margarine and marshmallows at HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Follow steps 2 and 3 above. Microwave cooking times may vary.

Rainbow Treats

Use Froot Loops cereal instead.

Caution

The package of marshmallows I looked at recently called for 3 TB butter, 6 cups mini marshmallows, and 6 cups cereal. Granted, they're trying to sell marshmallows... We tried it that way and it's just too much marshmallow.

Notes

[May 2019. I used Fruity Pebbles, which are marked Gluten Free, and Nucoa margarine, to make them dairy-free. A general note: don't use a larger pan, it's hard enough to spread it out in the 9x13.]
